I’m sitting in bed scrolling through the FP. My girlfriend never shows any interest in cars. She doesn’t feel emotion from cars. It’s mind boggling really. Anyways.... I try showing her cars to see if she EVER cares. I show her this and say, “Babe, what do you think of this car? Does it look sexy?” She says, “Sexy? I wouldn’t say that. It looks cute. Like maybe it would have big black eyelashes or something. It kinda reminds me of Minnie Mouse.”

But good job with the “are you really that stupid” meme to describe your girlfriend’s reaction. Clearly that's the best way to foster a curiosity about cars.

That is awesome! It does! I feel your pain. My wife always makes fun of me when I see some exotic or whatever and go nuts.
But then, last weekend, some goof was reving his motor 4-5 blocks away as we were walking downtown and I just threw out, “that’s an older Audi 4.2 v-8" just as a wild ass guess, and she scoffs. Guess what it was :)

You need to go more rugged for the ladies. I haven’t met a non-ethusiast woman that wasn’t into the G-Wagon or Wrangler. Maybe a Challenger, Tacoma, or classic truck. I don’t get it either. Guys seem to like the low to the ground, impractical stuff.

But the issue remains, if you think she’s stupid just because your passion doesn’t resonate with her, that’s not cool. I’m sure there’s stuff she really digs that leaves you yawning or thinking, “what is the appeal?”
I mean, try showing her that little pink Fiat with the lashes on it. It might make her laugh and then wonder about that particular car. She’s already been telling you that she sees cars in a different way than you. Where you see sexy, she sees cute. That’s not her being entirely disinterested, it’s her just seeing things differently. Figure out what makes a car “cute” to her and start showing her more cars like that. She might start showing more interest. It’ll likely never be as intense an interest as yours, but can you honestly say you’re as gung ho about her passions as she is?

I’m with you. She has passions I’m not interested in and I don’t expect her to be in on my passions all the time either. I just picked what is, to me, a beautiful vehicle. I show her cars all the time and ask her what she thinks and I’ve taken her to some car shows/cars and coffee type stuff. She’s not a car girl and I love her just the way she is. I appreciate you’re input too. All great advice. :)

My mother in law has a G6, with a lot of dings and a hobo-esque interior, with any luck I can snatch it up when she upgrades to a Buick.
